About Kayla Newkirk, MHC-LP
Kayla Newkirk is a limited permit clinical mental health counselor (MHC-LP) providing telemental health services. In 2023, she graduated from St. Bonaventure University, magna cum laude, with a Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling degree. She is currently pursuing her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision at Waynesburg University, with an anticipated graduation date of December 2027.
She provides individual and couples counseling to clients of all ages, from children as young as six to older adults, addressing a wide range of mental health concerns including, but not limited to, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, stress management, academic concerns, life transitions, and OCD. Her therapeutic approach focuses on empowering clients to build healthy relationships, improve communication skills, and develop strong social skills.
This is achieved through evidence-based practices like Adlerian counseling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and mindfulness-based techniques. Kayla is dedicated to creating personalized treatment plans and diligently documents all client interactions to ensure confidentiality and progress.
Kayla's diverse professional experience includes her role as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor Intern at the University of Arkansas Online Clinic, where she provided remote mental health services to college students. Her experience also includes an internship with Substance Education, Assessment, and Recovery (SEAR) at the University of Arkansas, where she performed intake, evaluation, treatment planning, and documentation to create individualized treatment plans for clients dealing with substance use and addiction. Additionally, she has experience as a Clinical Mental Health Counselor Intern at Branches of Growth in Syracuse, New York. Additionally, she has extensive work as a Crisis Line Counselor and Shift Lead for Contact Community Services, where she supported numerous hotlines, including 211, Telecare, and 988 Lifeline.
Kayla currently has daytime openings for clients who may be interested in services at this time.
